We’re excited to be apart of our new couple Rebecca and Cody’s wedding. Here is a little insight into their love story. Enjoy!
How did your love story begin? Tell us how you met and when you knew you were the one for each other!
Cody and I first became friends at Emory University in the fall of 2012. As we both loved theater and had worked on a couple shows together, we chose to sit next to each other during our long nights working at Emory’s Alumni Telefund.
I appreciated Cody’s skills at Trivial Pursuit, and Cody liked how passionate I was about stage managing. Cody thought I was cute, but I thought we were just friends… That changed after seeing Cody play the bad boy in Theater Emory’s Grim, Grimmer, Grimmest (who knew that guy-liner and fake tattoos could be so effective??); I watched the play two more times just to see him again!
Soon after that, we started texting every day and on November 27th, Cody asked me out for their first date by texting me, “I like that we don’t like all the same things, Rebecca. If sushi is something we both enjoy, would you like to get some with me tonight?” We’ve been together ever since.
Tell us about the proposal! Where, when and how did this special moment happen?
In May 2017, Cody and I went to New Orleans to celebrate Cody’s birthday. On our second day there, we were wandering around the French Quarter when we came to Jackson Square.
Little did I know, Cody was carrying the ring that he had been hiding for the past six months in a small wooden box we had bought together on a trip to Charleston. He told me to go stand in front of the fountain and he asked a passerby to take our picture.
Immediately suspicious of Cody’s sudden interest in taking photos, when he came back, I said, “are you about to do something??” and Cody got down on one knee and professed his love for me. Even though neither one of us can actually remember if he said the words “will you marry me?” with shaking hands, I said OF COURSE!!
We celebrated with a champagne toast at Brennan’s…and with a couple of hand grenades at Tropical Isle.
What made you decide to have your special day in the Cayman Islands?
My parents moved to the Cayman Islands in 2012 and then I knew immediately that I would get married there one day. When I started bringing Cody with me to visit, he fell in love with the island’s beauty too.
What is inspiring the style and design of your wedding?
Cody and I both love classic styles, so we knew from the beginning that we wanted a wedding that felt timeless. Our wedding will be romantic and elegant, with white, blush, dusty blue, and silver tones.
Congratulations, Rebecca & Cody! We can’t wait to celebrate their beautiful wedding day!
