CELEBRATIONS BUILDS “LOVE LOCK WALL” FOR THE CAYMAN ISLANDS, CREATING MEMORABLE NEW ATTRACTION FOR COUPLES & TOURISTS
GRAND CAYMAN, Jan. 28, 2015 – Celebrations Ltd. has announced the installation of Grand Cayman’s very own “Love Lock” attraction – following in the footsteps of cities such as Paris, Rome, Seoul, Moscow, and Prague.
A “love lock” is a padlock which lovers personalize with notes and attach to a bridge, fence or other structure to symbolize the strength of their bond. The Love Lock fixtures around the world have grown to be popular tourist attractions, allowing individuals or couples to write their names or initials on padlocks and attach permanently to these fixtures.
Celebrations Ltd. staff and CEO JoAnne Brown will attach the first personalized locks to the wall, along with a group from the Cayman Heart Fund, including Chairman David Dinner & Chair Emeritus Suzy Soto when the wall is installed on Friday January 30, 2015 at 4 pm EST.
“The hope is for the Love Lock Wall to grow into something bigger than us – to be the symbol of love in the Cayman Islands that locals & visitors can leave their marks on and re-visit in the years to come. This is the start of something amazing.”
JoAnne V. Brown, CEO & Creative Director
The Love Lock Wall will be situated in The Paseo at Camana Bay until Sunday February 15th. Members of the public are welcome to bring their own locks, while locks will also be available for purchase at the Celebrations shop in Camana Bay (open Mon-Sat, 10am-7pm). All are encouraged to customize their love locks by writing notes on them, painting them, etc.
“We encourage all to participate and leave their locks on the wall – the Love Locks should be considered not only a symbol of the unbreakable bond between couples, but can also be symbols for individuals to note their dedication to their families, their morals, their religions, etc. There is no limit to what the lock can symbolize. It’s for the beholder to determine.”
